Located little more than three hours’ drive from Cape Town – and a convenient diversion for travellers exploring South Africa’s scenic Garden Route – Lekkerwater enjoys an enviable position perched between land and sea atop the ancient dunes of De Hoop.
This remarkable coastal reserve is particularly famous for offering some of the world’s best land-based whale watching. During winter and spring (July to November) Southern Right whales migrate here from Antarctica to calve and breed in the warm seas offshore. Since 1985 these waters have been designated as a Marine Protected Area, and sea life has flourished. While whales are the stars of the show, guests may also look forward to sighting dolphins, seals and myriad sea birds from the comfort of Lekkerwater Beach Lodge.
With a rich history, incredible fauna and flora, pristine beaches, rolling hills and abundant sea life, the focus at Lekkerwater is on an exceptional nature-based experience.

CHECK-IN / CHECK-OUT:
- Check-in time is from 14h00
- Check out time is by 10h30
- Requests for early arrival or late check out must be made directly with the Hotel
- Every effort will be made to accommodate the request however the Hotel reserves the right to levy an additional charge to accommodate different check-in /out times.
CANCELLATION POLICY:
The member has the right to cancel a booking but the following penalties will apply:
- Between 60 and 48 days prior to the arrival date, the member will be charged 30% of the portion of the cancelled booking value should the booking be cancelled;
- Between 47 and 31 days prior to the arrival date, the member will be charged 60% of the portion of the cancelled booking value should the booking be cancelled;
- Between 30 and 0 days prior to the arrival date, the member will be charged 100% of the portion of the cancelled booking value should the booking be cancelled;
- No shows will be charged for in full.
PEAK SEASON:
- Between 90 days prior to the arrival date, the member will be charged 100% of the portion of the cancelled booking value should the booking be cancelled;
PREPAYMENT:
- You'll be charged a prepayment of 50% of the total price after reservation
- A total of 100% is required 60 days before arrival of booking, but 100% payment is required 90 days before arrival of booking in Peak Season.
- 100% prepayment for all 1 night stays or bookings within 60 days or arrival
CHILDREN & BEDS:
Cot and extra bed policies
- Children 6 - 18 years charged 50% of the adult rate per night (sharing with adults)
- Children 19 years and over charged full adult rate

NOTE: Name change on the booking can be done for an additional R500 should the member not travel with.

Do I need the whole amount available in my wallet
You do not need to have the whole amount available in your travel wallet. Any outstanding amount may be settled by EFT
Can I pay cash upfront?
Yes, you can pay cash upfront. Even if you have the full, or partial amount in your travel wallet, if you choose to you may pay for your trip entirely with case, sent to us by EFT
Can I get a refund if I can't make my trip?
Yes, a full or partial refund may be applicable to you if you are no longer able to make your trip. An important note: Whether you can be refunded, and how much you can be refunded, depends on the terms and conditions of the travel package and accommodation where you have booked.
Does the total include flights and visas?
No. Flights and other travel items are arranges separately from your travel package and will therefore be at an additional cost, unless otherwise stated in the package you have chosen.
